Winners & Losers: Harvick, Johnson left to battle for second behind Truex’s dominating run

On most Sprint Cup race days, Kevin Harvick and Jimmie Johnson would have be battling back and forth for the lead and maybe even a win. In Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600, they were merely spectators along with all the others at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Martin Truex Jr.’s dominating win in Sunday night’s race was one for the ages. Not only did he lead 392 of 400 laps, 588 miles total, he shattered the previous record for most laps led, which Jim Paschal held (335 laps) in the 1967 race.

“Yeah, I mean they have had a few runs where they have just been the class of the field and things have kept them from Victory Lane,” Johnson said of Truex’s performance.
