WIMBLEDON, England — It took top-seeded Novak Djokovic five sets over two days to finally beat Kevin Anderson in the fourth round at Wimbledon, but he had no such difficulty with Marin Cilic, the reigning champion of the United States Open.
Djokovic beat the ninth-seeded Cilic, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, in 1 hour 48 minutes to earn a place in the semifinal, where he will continue his drive to defend his title. Djokovic, who now holds a 13-0 edge over Cilic, will play the winner of the quarterfinal match between Stan Wawrinka and Richard Gasquet.
It will be Djokovic’s sixth consecutive Wimbledon semifinal and his 27th Grand Slam semifinal over all.
