Wild finish denies victory to David Ragan, brain surgery patient Matt Tifft

David Ragan tried; he had a chance; but he just couldn't deliver a victory for Matt Tifft.

Called to drive Joe Gibbs Racing's No. 18 Toyota in Friday's Xfinity Series race at Daytona, Ragan started in pole position. He led the Subway Firecracker 250 as it went into overtime.

No luck: He lost his drafting partner and surrendered the top spot. Ragan tried to block the outside lane on the final lap, got caught in a multicar and finished 21st in a demolished Toyota.
