Why Gurley might not play for Rams to start year

USA TODAY Sports

EARTH CITY, Mo. – Patience continues to be the biggest challenge for Todd Gurley in his rookie training camp with the St. Louis Rams.
Gurley, the Rams’ first-round pick running back, has yet to participate in a one-on-one drill, let alone running through actual plays with the Rams’ offense through the first two weeks of training camp. That’s not likely to change soon, and Gurley will not play tonight against the Raiders and likely won’t play at all in the preseason.

He might not even be on the field through the first several weeks of the regular season as the coaching staff waits for him to be fully recovered from the torn anterior cruciate ligament he suffered last November at the University of Georgia.
