With Brock Purdy inking a massive five-year, $265 million deal with the San Francisco 49ers, the quarterback market has taken another big jump. While Purdy is now locked in at $53 million per year on average, that doesn’t mean every capable starter will hit that same number, but it does move the goalposts for players like Baker Mayfield.
Coming off the best season of his career, Mayfield has positioned himself as more than just a bridge option at quarterback. He’s become a leader, trusted at the helm of an offense with more than enough firepower, and the Bucs may want to look into extending him before the price takes another jump.
