Dating back to 1936, the Olympic torch relay is a proud tradition that allows people in all corners of the host country to take ownership over their games.
It appears not everybody feels that way.
As the torch made its way through Joinville, Brazil, a lone wolf decided he didn't want to see it flickering anymore. Armed with a fire extinguisher, he made his way up to the runner and took aim at the flame.
Let's just say that was a bad idea.
