In time for Tuesday's eventual win over the White Sox, the Tigers called up INF/OF JaCoby Jones to add a bit of youthful enthusiasm to a flagging lineup. The 24-year-old's summoning wasn't exactly expected (per the AP, he didn't even find out until late Monday night), so his parents had to scramble to get from Mississippi to Detroit in time to see their son make his big-league debut. But make it there they did.
No matter how the game played out, their efforts would have been worth it, but as it turns out Jones wound up going 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and two RBI.
