Wednesday night, the St. Paul Saints of the independent American Association had a chance to clinch a postseason berth with a win over the Winnipeg Goldeyes. Alas, Winnipeg prevailed by the score of 3-2.
The Saints held a 2-1 lead in the eighth inning when right fielder Breland Almadova and catcher Vinny DiFazio teamed up for an incredible play at the plate. Almadova unleashed a rocket throw, and DiFazio was able to make the tag on the foot of the leaping Wes Darvill.
