CLEVELAND – The long wait is over for the Golden State Warriors.
After 40 years, the NBA title is back in the Bay Area.
And after six games of a grueling NBA Finals series, there is no argument that the best team earned their stripes as the new champion.
The Warriors survived the last, desperate shots from LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night – and the raucous environment at Quicken Loans Arena – to finally claim a new slice of history with a 105-97 victory.
It was never easy, not when the Warriors were compiling the NBA's best regular-season record and certainly not when they were faced with the possibility of having the series extended to a Game 7.
