Warriors 105, Cavaliers 97: N.B.A. Finals 2015: Warriors Win Title, Beating Cavaliers

The Golden State Warriors won the N.B.A. championship on Tuesday night, defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers, 105-97, to win the series, four games to two.

It was the first title for the Warriors since 1975.

The victory denied a championship to LeBron James, who returned this season to Cleveland after four seasons and two titles with the Miami Heat. The city of Cleveland has not won a major sports championship since the Browns won the N.F.L. title in 1964.

The Warriors entered the playoffs as the favorite after a league-best 67-15 season. Led by the league’s most valuable player, Stephen Curry, and his All-Star backcourt partner, Klay Thompson, the Warriors cruised through the first three rounds of the playoffs, winning 12 games and losing three.
