LOS ANGELES – United States midfielder Lauren Holiday bade an emotional farewell to the women's national team on Tuesday, just two days after winning the World Cup.
Holiday, 27, broke down in tears as she revealed that she would continue playing for her National Women's Soccer League team FC Kansas City until the end of the season, but will no longer be available for national team selection.
"I am so happy, these are not tears of (sadness), I just hadn't really talked to anyone about it much yet," Holiday said.
