Serena Williams made quick work of a tough draw in the first round of the U.S. Open. It was more of the same for her in the second round.

Williams defeated fellow American Vania King in straight sets on Thursday night, 6-3, 6-3, to move into the third round of the tournament.

The win was Williams' 306th Grand Slam singles victory, which according to ESPN ties with Martina Navratilova for the most for any woman in history.
