You’re angry North Carolina coach Larry Fedora hired former Illinois coach Tim Beckman as a volunteer assistant coach.
Anger is the only social-media applicable emotion when decisions like this are made. Beckman was fired for the mistreatment of Illinois players on Aug. 28, 2015. It’s an unnecessary risk for Fedora to take, but there’s nothing stopping him from taking that risk.
Blame the NCAA all you want for allowing it to happen, but in a system with a nebulous punishment system that never seems to drop the hammer on coaches, it’s going to continue to happen. At some point, it’s on the schools to make sure to make the right decisions, too.
