Kenta Maeda nearly made history Tuesday night for his new team.
After eight no-hit innings, Minnesota Twins starter Maeda allowed his first hit to the Milwaukee Brewers in the ninth, when Eric Sogard led off with a single that looped just beyond second base.
Maeda threw 115 pitches — surpassed his own career-high of 111 pitches, and the 2020 high of 112, thrown by Derek Holland and Max Scherzer in this shortened season. The 32-year-old right-hander, who is in his first season with the Twins after being traded from the Dodgers, looked tired as he sat down the Brewers in the eighth.
