This one was a surprise. Derek Fisher is out as Knicks head coach, 3 1/2 seasons before his contract runs out. That leaves Knicks president Phil Jackson and owner James Dolan to figure out who can lead this team to something better than Fisher's 23-31 mark this season.

There are plenty of options, sure, but Jackson and Dolan both have histories of loyalty to people they have worked with in the past. Jackson has his Triangle Offense system, though it's not clear how much weight he will put into that model as a hiring requirement.
