Top 25: Ohio State stays strong No. 1; Alabama moves up

It was a strong statement by Ohio State, but the No. 1 team still isn’t quite unanimous.

With the Monday night spotlight all to themselves, the Buckeyes handled a stiff challenge from Virginia Tech on the road to prevail 42-24 in their 2015 opener. They easily retained the top ranking in the Amway Coaches Poll with 63 of 64 first-place votes.

But Alabama, equally impressive in Saturday night’s win against then-No. 18 Wisconsin, now checks in at No. 2 and held on to its first place vote from preseason balloting.
