Timberwolves coach Saunders battling cancer

Minneapolis (AFP) - Sam Mitchell will take over as Minnesota Timberwolves interim coach while Flip Saunders continues cancer treatment, the NBA team said Friday.

Saunders, the Timberwolves' coach and president, said in August that he had been diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma.

The team said in a statement posted on their website on Friday that he had experienced complications after completing chemotherapy treatment and was in hospital for further tests and treatment.
