Tim Tebow Released by the Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles released Tim Tebow along with 21 other players before the N.F.L.’s roster deadline on Saturday.

Tebow had seemingly won the No. 3 quarterback job after his best performance in the preseason, against the Jets on Thursday night, when Philadelphia traded Matt Barkley to Arizona on Friday. But Coach Chip Kelly cut Tebow, leaving the Eagles with only two quarterbacks on the roster, Sam Bradford, the starter, and Mark Sanchez, Tebow’s former teammate on the Jets.

Tebow was 11 for 17 for 189 yards against the Jets, with two touchdowns and one interception.
