Tim Tebow is worth signing, even if he never sniffs the major leagues

NEW YORK — Tim Tebow is unlikely to ever reach the major leagues. He’s 29 years old, hasn’t played baseball in a decade and, according to reports from his scouting showcase on Tuesday, has plenty of holes in his game.

Even if he never gets a day in the majors, though, Tebow can be a positive contributor to a major league organization. He is an elite athlete who has played at the highest level of professional sports, and been a lightning rod in the most popular sport in America. The value in having someone like that around minor leaguers should be clear.
