ZEELAND — A team of students from Zeeland Public Schools recently took home first place in a statewide esports tournament.
The Zeeland High School Esports Team participated in the Michigan High School Esports Federation Spring 2025 State Championships at the University of Michigan-Flint on April 26, competing in several different events.
The team’s Rainbow Six Siege, comprised of Evan Schuberg, Richard Lovejoy, Ethan Malefyt, Drake Conley, Isaiah Lett and Brent Strabbing, secured the state championship, according to a release from the district.
Zeeland’s team topped Hill McCoy High School in the semifinals before beating previously undefeated East Kentwood in a “thrilling three-match overtime” in the finals.
