It’s the eternal question: How much does the NFL preseason really matter? No one looks at spring training as a harbinger of things to come in the baseball season. Few even know the NBA or NHL preseason exists (legend has it that the latter starts a few days after the end of the Stanley Cup Finals). But football fans, always looking for some clue to the future successes of their teams, try and glean some information from the silly season in August, when the stars usually sit and benchwarmers dominate. We know we shouldn’t. We say it’s meaningless, yet every season we try to convince ourself that it does.
