College football in 2020 is off to a roaring start.
After months of uncertainty, postponements, cancellations, sniping, protests and, as always, the coronavirus, FCS Austin Peay and Central Arkansas opened the season on Saturday in Montgomery, Alabama.
Following an Austin Peay touchback on the opening kickoff, the Governors instantly scored with a 75-yard run from running back CJ Evans Jr.
That’s a welcome sight for a season that some feared wouldn’t be happening over the summer. Multiple conferences, including the Big Ten and Pac-12, canceled or postponed their seasons as the coronavirus started hitting campuses.
