Texas A&M vs Oklahoma: SEC softball championship game canceled due to weather

After making its deepest run yet in the SEC softball tournament, No. 1 Texas A&M's chance to challenge No. 2 Oklahoma in the conference title game was canceled.

Saturday’s game will not be made up and the two have been named co-champions.

The matchup between the Aggies and Sooners was originally scheduled for 4 p.m. CT. But due to heavy rain moving into Athens, Ga., the game was moved up to noon. The weather came sooner than expected, and the game never got began.

The grounds crew planned to remove the tarp from the field to start the game, but were stopped by officials and then coaches met, likely deciding on what to do.
