Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt will miss the rest of the 2017 season after he suffered a leg fracture during Sunday's game, coach Bill O'Brien said Monday.

Watt fractured the tibial plateau in his left leg during Houston's first defensive series against the Kansas City Chiefs. He fell to the ground while engaged in a block during the 42-34 loss.

The Texans also lost outside linebacker Whitney Mercilus for the season, as a source confirmed to ESPN that he tore a pectoral muscle on the same drive that Watt was injured.
