Steelers HC Mike Tomlin becomes the longest-tenured head coach after Gregg Popovich news

After news broke that Spurs HC Gregg Popovich, arguably one of the greatest head coaches in NBA history, would be stepping down from his duties to become team president, Steelers HC Mike Tomlin is now the longest-tenured head coach among the four major sports in North America.

Popovich, a three-time Coach of the Year who led San Antonio to five NBA championships, is hanging it up after an incredible 29-year career as the Spurs’ head coach.

Tomlin, who is heading into his 19th year as the Steelers’ head coach, currently holds the NFL record for most consecutive non-losing seasons to begin a coaching career, with 18 straight winning seasons.
