Sports Briefing | Rugby: Ireland Flanker Is Out of World Cup With Injury

Ireland flanker Peter O’Mahony was ruled out of the rest of the Rugby World Cup with a knee injury, the Irish Rugby Football Union said. He was replaced by Leinster’s Rhys Ruddock.

O’Mahony was injured in a 24-9 win over France on Sunday, which put Ireland atop Pool D.

The captain Paul O’Connell, 35, sustained a hamstring injury and will also probably miss the rest of the tournament, including Sunday’s quarterfinal against Argentina.
