Spieth shoots 66 to take early lead at Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- As Jordan Spieth walked off the 18th green, an Augusta National member in a green jacket greeted and escorted the defending champion to the scoring room to sign for his opening-round 66. The member extended a clenched fist to Spieth, who without cracking a smile despite his impressive start, bumped it and kept walking.

The champ is here.

Spieth was nearly flawless in his first round back at Augusta since slipping into the green jacket last April. He made six birdies, no bogeys and touched off his round with an easy birdie on the 18th hole for a 33 on each nine.
