Le'Veon Bell is not reporting to the Pittsburgh Steelers by Tuesday's 4 p.m. deadline, source told ESPN's Adam Schefter, and is now ineligible to play the remainder of the 2018 season.
Bell's decision means the All-Pro running back is leaving the $14.5 million franchise tag on the table and will become a free agent this winter, when the bidding will begin.
Bell, who's currently in Pittsburgh, is missing the season to preserve his long-term viability for a 2019 contract despite telling ESPN on Oct. 1 that he would play in 2018.
"I'll be fully committed and give you everything I have," Bell said then.
