Serena Williams Wins French Open for Her 20th Grand Slam Title

Serena Williams won her 20th Grand Slam tournament with a 6-2, 6-7 (2), 6-2 victory over Lucie Safarova in the French Open final on Saturday.

The 20 titles include three French Opens, six Australian Opens, five Wimbledons and six United States Opens. She now ranks alone in third all-time behind Margaret Court with 24 and Steffi Graf with 22.

Williams improved her record against the veteran Safarova to 9-0.

Top seeded Williams, 33, won despite a shaky tournament overall. She lost the first set four times leading to the final, and suffered from the flu during her semifinal victory over Timea Bacsinszky.
