Ryder Cup 2016: Europeans prove they have fight in afternoon fourball

CHASKA, Minn. — The Europeans charged back into contention Friday afternoon with three big wins after getting swept in morning foursomes.

It was a nightmarish start to the 2016 Ryder Cup at Hazeltine National for Darren Clarke's European squad, but they rebounded to finish the day down just 5-3 after a dramatic comeback during Friday fourball.

No team has ever swept the first session and lost, so the U.S. will have its work cut out if it doesn't want to wind up on the wrong side of history.
