Barcelona is eager to bring in experienced cover at right back, with Mundo Deportivo reporting that Stoke City’s Glen Johnson is among those under consideration by the La Liga giant.
The 32-year-old has played for the likes of West Ham United, Chelsea and Liverpool in the past, while earning 54 caps for England, but linked up with the Potters as a free agent in 2015.
It would be a remarkable move were he to end up at Camp Nou, but the contract he signed upon his arrival at the Bet365 Stadium is due to expire next summer so there is the potential for a switch to be made in January.
