Fanendo Adi and Lucas Melano scored, and the Portland Timbers advanced to the M.L.S. Cup final for the first time on Sunday, tying F.C. Dallas, 2-2, in the second leg of the Western Conference finals in Frisco, Tex.
Portland won the first leg at home, 3-1, on its way to a 5-3 victory in the two-game series. The Timbers will face the winner of the Eastern Conference series between the Red Bulls and Columbus in the championship game on Sunday.
Dallas rallied for a 2-1 lead on goals by Ryan Hollingshead and Blas Perez in a five-minute span, but it could not overcome the three-goal aggregate deficit created by Adi’s goal in the 54th minute.
