Yangervis Solarte hit a two-run single in the 11th inning, lifting the Padres over the host Atlanta Braves, 6-4, on Thursday after a benches-clearing incident and the ejection of San Diego Manager Bud Black.
The players left their dugouts in the first inning after Atlanta’s Julio Teheran hit Matt Kemp with a 90-mile-an-hour fastball. No punches were thrown, and no one was ejected.
Black was thrown out in the seventh inning for arguing with the umpires Jordan Baker and Jerry Meals.
Padres closer Craig Kimbrel, facing his former team for the second time in the series, earned his 15th save in 16 chances with a perfect 11th that included a groundout by Andrelton Simmons and strikeouts by Christian Bethancourt and pinch-hitter Jonny Gomes.
