Roundup: No. 1 Sooners and the No. 2 Tar Heels Fall

Wesley Iwundu scored 22 points, the freshman reserve Dean Wade had 17, and host Kansas State beat No. 1 Oklahoma, 80-69, on Saturday night to shake up the Big 12 race yet again.

“That’s the best team in the country, and we just beat them,” Iwundu said. “We have every reason to hold our heads up high right now.”

D. J. Johnson had 12 points, and Justin Edwards scored 11 for the Wildcats (14-9, 3-7), who ended the Sooners’ four-game winning streak by holding the front-runner for player of the year, Buddy Hield, in check.

Hield, a high-scoring guard, had 23 points, but most came in the final minutes, when the Sooners (19-3, 7-3) were desperately trying to rally.
