Roundup: Mikaela Shiffrin Rebounds From a Fall to Grab Lead in Slalom Opener

Mikaela Shiffrin bounced back from a crash the day before to take a big lead after the first run of a World Cup slalom Saturday in Aspen, Colo.

Shiffrin, who hails from nearby Eagle-Vail, finished the course in 48.01 seconds. She had a 1.38-second advantage over Veronika Velez Zuzulova of Slovakia. Frida Hansdotter of Sweden was third.

On Friday, Shiffrin was leading a giant slalom race, but she fell near the finish.
