Kris Bryant and Miguel Montero had consecutive run-scoring doubles in the sixth inning as the host Chicago Cubs extended Shelby Miller’s winless skid to 17 games with a 5-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Friday.
Anthony Rizzo added a run-scoring single in the seventh for Chicago.
Jason Motte earned the win in relief, starting a string of four innings in which Cubs relievers did not allow a hit until pinch-hitter Nick Swisher doubled with one out in the ninth off closer Hector Rondon.
Rondon managed to recover to earn his 22nd save in 26 opportunities.
