Seth Russell, Baylor’s new starting quarterback, threw for 376 yards, with three of his five touchdowns going to Jay Lee, and ran for a score as the fourth-ranked Bears rolled to a 56-21 victory over Southern Methodist on Friday night in Dallas.
Russell, who succeeded the two-year starter Bryce Petty, and the Bears kept rolling on offense, as has become typical under Coach Art Briles, who is in his eight season. Russell completed 15 of 30 passes and had a 4-yard touchdown run as Baylor had 723 total yards. Last season, the Bears averaged 582 yards and 48 points.
