Rio Olympics 2016: Kristin Armstrong wins gold for USA in road cycling

Slick, wet conditions in Rio presented a challenge for riders in the women’s cycling time trial event Wednesday morning, but American cyclist Kristin Armstrong showed the chops of a two-time gold medalist in the 19.7-km leg as she secured her third golf medal with a final time of 44:26.42.

Armstrong was the final rider on the course and knocked Russia’s Olga Zabelinskaya of the top podium spot by a 5.55-second margin (44:31.97).

Armstrong, 42, stopped her bike just across the finish, looked back at the clock and just before collapsing to the pavement asked: “Did I win?
