A day after punching Jets quarterback Geno Smith in the face, Ikemefuna Enempkali found a new home — with Rex Ryan, a former Jets coach.
He was claimed off waivers Wednesday by the Buffalo Bills, who are led by Ryan, the Jets’ coach last season when they drafted Enempkali in the sixth round.
“Nothing justifies hitting somebody,” Ryan told news media at Bills training camp in Pittsford, N.Y. “I recognize it was a mistake, but I also believe he will learn from this.”
Enempkali, a linebacker, slugged Smith in the Jets’ locker room Tuesday morning, breaking Smith’s jaw and sidelining him for six to 10 weeks.
