Report: Padres to sign pitcher Drew Pomeranz

Another new home has been found for one of baseball’s best-traveled pitchers.

On Wednesday, Drew Pomeranz agreed to a free-agent contract with the San Deigo Padres, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. The deal is for four years and $34 million, according to Robert Murray.

The 31-year-old left-hander emerged as a more than serviceable bullpen option at a time when the market was relatively thin on relievers. Pomeranz will likely stick in the bullpen for the Padres, but he can handle a heavy workload and step in as a spot starter if necessary.
