Red Sox 5, Yankees 3: Rob Refsnyder Makes Composed Debut as the Yankees Lose to the Red Sox

BOSTON — When Rob Refsnyder, a celebrated and self-effacing Yankees prospect, studied the lineup before the Yankees’ game against the Red Sox on Saturday, he found his name — at the bottom of the order.

He did not mind.

“That’s the best batting nine hole I’ve ever seen,” Refsnyder said in front of his locker a few hours before his major league debut.

Refsnyder, a 24-year-old born in South Korea whom many have billed as the Yankees’ second baseman of the future, went 0 for 3 while demonstrating his defensive growth in the Yankees’ 5-3 loss at Fenway Park.
