According to The Athletic, Real Madrid are seriously considering parting ways with David Alaba this summer, primarily due to his high salary and persistent injury troubles.
The Austrian defender, who recently underwent surgery, has become a financial burden in the eyes of the club, especially as his performances have not consistently matched his wage packet.
Alaba is one of three Real Madrid defenders, along with Antonio Rudiger and Ferland Mendy, who have recently gone under the knife.
However, unlike Rudiger, whose performances have been largely reliable, Alaba’s physical condition and age are now genuine causes for concern within the club.
