Rays 4, Mets 3: Mets Lose Early Lead and Fall to Rays

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — On his final pitch of Sunday’s game, Tampa Bay starter Chris Archer threw an 88 mile-per-hour slider to Wilmer Flores. Flores swung and missed. Archer, the Rays’ young All-Star pitcher, pumped his arms, let out a yell and strutted off the mound. He had allowed three runs and four hits while striking out 10 in six innings.

On his final pitch of the game, Mets starter Bartolo Colon threw a 91 mile-per-hour fastball to John Jaso. Jaso laced it to right field for a single. Colon, the Mets’ 42-year-old remade veteran, was relieved and walked off the mound quietly.
