Rapper Flavor Flav encouraged Muhammad Ali's grandson to box

Because of his grandfather Muhammad Ali, Nico Ali Walsh has seen the boxing world first-hand. But it wasn't until he made an unlikely connection with rapper Flavor Flav that Ali Walsh decided to make a name for himself in the sport.

Flav and Ali Walsh became close through Ali Walsh's aunt Khaliah, who toured with Public Enemy in the 1980s. When Flav discovered he was neighbors with the Ali Walshes, he took Nico under his wing.

"We start getting together and Nico shows me a video of him boxing in the backyard in the grass," Flav, a former amateur boxer, told Fox Sports.
