Rain Postpones U.S. Open Women’s Semifinals

The women’s semifinals at the United States Open, scheduled for Thursday night, have been postponed until Friday morning because of rain.

Serena Williams, who is in pursuit of a Grand Slam, was to play Roberta Vinci at 7 p.m., Eastern time, on Thursday. That match and the Simona Halep-Flavia Pennetta match have been rescheduled for Friday, starting at 11 a.m.

The men’s semifinals, scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. Friday, will be played after the women’s semifinals, but not before 5 p.m.
