Pro wrestler John Cena to drive Daytona 500 pace car

WWE star Jon Cena will take a day off from training in the ring and rehabbing a December shoulder injury to serve as the honorary pace car driver in the Daytona 500 on Feb. 21, NASCAR announced Friday.

"John Cena is one of the most iconic WWE superstars in history, a great actor and philanthropist," Daytona International Speedway president Joie Chitwood III said in release. "We welcome him back to the 'World Center of Racing' and our new motorsports stadium, this time to pace the field for the 'Great American Race.' "

Cena served as an honorary starter for the 2012 edition of the Daytona 500, but this year he’ll be behind the wheel to lead the field of 40 cars to the green flag.
