Porto ousts nine-man Roma to win Champions League playoff; more results

Porto stunned Roma 3-0 in the second leg of their Champions League playoff in Rome to advance to the group stage of the competition on a 4-1 aggregate and send the Serie A side crashing into the second-tier Europa League group stage instead.

Roma, which was reduced to 10 men in the 39th minute when Daniele De Rossi was sent off for stomping on Maxi Pereira and then down to nine men in the 50th when Emerson suffered the same fate, had high hopes of reaching the Champions League group stage after taking a slight away-goal edge from the 1-1 draw in the opening leg.
