Pittsburgh once planned a 'Jetsons'-style stadium on top of river for Pirates

Looking at the aerial shots of Pittsburgh's beautiful riverfront PNC Park during Sunday's MLB opening day broadcast, many longtime baseball fans can't help but think about what an improvement that facility is over the old dump named Three Rivers Stadium.

But a decade before that much-maligned "cookie-cutter" stadium was even built, Pittsburgh had plans for a baseball stadium so unusual, and so futuristic in appearance, it might still be standing had it been built.
