PIttsburgh fans better not take Stanley Cup for granted

On October 13, 1960, Bill Mazeroski knocked a high fastball from Ralph Terry over the left field wall at Forbes Field, and the Pittsburgh Pirates won the first championship their city had seen in two generations. At the time, I was not even four months removed from the first of my many birthdays. So that one doesn’t count.

To grow up as a sports fan in Pittsburgh during this particular lifetime, however, has provided an abundance of these blessings. I almost typed out “overabundance,” but this is a good thing of which one can never get enough.
