PHILADELPHIA — Thousands of Americans face the same sports conundrum on a weekly basis: Their favorite team is playing, and because of some obligation — work, family or otherwise — they cannot watch. They set their DVRs, avoid the Internet, and hope they get home without hearing the score.
Matt Harvey faced that situation Friday night. He started against the Phillies, going six innings, allowing three runs and recording four strikeouts. He was charged with his first loss of the season as the Mets fell, 3-1, largely because their offense could not solve Cole Hamels, the Phillies’ starter.
